January 2013 Fire Recovery Efforts

YEAHHHHH!!! I was able to get a post hole digger on Wed.!!! To some, it might seem odd to be excited about a post hole digger; but, it meant that I was able to finish getting the dirt and clay out of the bottom of the hole for the future out-house - without getting stuck - head first - down in a hole that's "interesting" getting out of "right side up" (and, I'm 5'9"...) Imagine having to use a sick room toilet chair out under the trees in the dead of winter; and, you'll better understand why I'm so thrilled to have been able to get a post hole digger...

Right now, propane is a really high priority; and, I think I have everything covered for finishing up the micro this month. Mainly, I'm waiting on Kenneth to get more insulation shavings; so, I can finish up the roof; and, to finish packing the walls.

I'm trying to stay focused on the roof, the water line, and the out-house. A friend of mine is going to watch for a post hole digger or handle at an auction he's planning to go to Thurs. night.

Once I have those out of the way, my attention needs to turn to trying to put together an 8'x8' over by the pole. I was able to scavenge a small electric water heater that I HOPE doesn't leak. (I had to dump some water out of it to be able to get it onto the car; so, here's hoping that all it needs is a thermostat or an element. As heavy as it was for its size, it MIGHT just need a good cleaning out...)

After I finish the water line to the micro, I'll have a cut-off valve on it; and, I'll be able to start running a line off of it over to a spot near the power pole. At that point, I can try to set up the 8'x8' and get back to getting a bath when I need it. I'm hoping to have the micro's water line finished Sat. or Sun. I'm short one cut-off valve, a 45 degree fitting, and a straight connector; but, I plan to get those on Fri., when it's raining. While at Lowe's, maybe I'll be able to snag some cull OSB, as well.

My name is Genevieve and 26 years ago when I needed help Kathy was there.  She shared her experience, strength, and most of all hope.  I am where I am today as a result of Kathy and people like her.

Rarely is one blessed to be able to give back to someone that has given to them.  We are usually left to simply pass on what was given so freely to us to another.

This is my opportunity to give back to Kathy.  Not only for me but for the countless others she has served.  She is a passionate selfless woman who I have admired most of my adult life.
